“With This New Building We Will Be Able To Throw Our Doors Wide Open for All In Douglas County”
Improving access to affordable, high-quality health care for all.
MEETING THE NEED
As the sole safety net provider for Douglas County, as well as the only Federally Qualified Health Center in Douglas (and surrounding counties), Heartland provides access to affordable healthcare services for more than 12,000 unique patients. Heartland exists to welcome all persons, regardless of income status or insurance coverage.
As the need for access to health care increases, so does the requirement for space and staff to serve patients. The renovated Health Center will provide almost 10,000 sq. ft. of additional space and is located along Lawrence’s central “health corridor” near Heartland’s closest partners (LMH, Bert Nash, Lawrence Douglas County Public Health Department). One central location will allow patients access to primary & family medicine, dental, behavioral health & psychiatry, an expanded food pantry, a drive-through pharmacy, and much more.
This focused capital campaign of $3 million will cover the FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) and the OS&E (Operating Supplies and Equipment). Architecture is the bones of this project, but FF&E and OS&E becomes the flesh that makes up the body that will become the new Health Center. This is only possible with the generosity of multiple private and public partners. The generosity of our donors has made it possible to renovate the building and begin operations this fall. However, help is still needed to meet the growing needs of the community. With the streamlined facility, additional space, and increased access to care, Heartland anticipates serving more than 18,000 patients with 52,000 unique visits in 2022.
Your support is critical for Heartland to reach these goals.
